It turned out that the hospital experience wasn't as bad as I was anticipating so I was happy about that. I had started contractions at about 8am that day, but they weren't really consistent and they were far enough apart that I decided to go to church (which was at 10am) and see how things went from there. As we were sitting in sacrament meeting (our worship service) my contractions died down a bit. I only had about 5 during that hour. After that meeting I started walking around outside a bit. Within about 30 minutes I started having the contractions every 5 minutes or so. I went inside to tell Ben that we probably should go to the hospital. He happens to be the financial clerk right now and he was almost done getting the tithing all ready for the end of the year so he asked me if I could wait about 20 minutes. At the time I thought that wouldn't be a problem, but within 15 minutes my contractions were coming about every 2-3 minutes and getting a lot more intense. I sent 2 people in to get Ben and he came rushing out of the church. We rushed to the hospital and got there at about 12:30pm.
When I got to the hospital I was happy to find out that I was at 7 centimeters so I knew I'd be having the baby pretty soon. At this point, however, my contractions slowed down a bit because they weren't too quick about getting things done (it took about an hour to get me situated into the room). I was really apprehensive about having the baby in this hospital because they weren't really set up to accommodate women who are laboring naturally. One thing that I've been used to in the past is laboring in the tub, but they didn't have any in this hospital - and let me tell you what - it makes a big difference!!! Usually I don't hit a "wall" where I feel like I can't do it anymore, but about 10 minutes before I had her I was thinking that I couldn't do it any more and was wondering how much more I could take. Thank goodness for my mom and Ben because they were so encouraging. Anyway, once my water broke I had her in the next contraction.
She has been the best baby ever!!!! Since we've been home she has had only 2 "bad" nights. The rest of the nights she has slept 5-6 hours. Rest has made such a big difference - I feel like a normal person instead of a walking zombie! Not only does she sleep through the night (5 hours of sleep constitutes a full night's rest to me), but she hardly fusses during the day - she's very content. If babies that are late are always like this, then I hope my next one is late too!

I told Jon that only his sister would go to church while she's in labor! You crack me up! So glad it all went so well, she is beautiful, and we can't wait to meet her! But I'm going to pretend I didn't read the part about 5-6 hour sleep stretches, since my almost 12 week old still does 3 hour ones.
Congrats! She's beautiful! What a big girl. Glad to hear she's sleeping well and that the kids are adjusting. We miss you guys!
Congrats! She is a cutie!
yea! Congrats Amanda. 2 girls and 2 boys, wha a perfect little family!
I am mostly impressed that you have already blogged about this! Honestly, though, darling pictures and great story. See you in a couple weeks! (We'll try really, really hard to cross the street for a visit.)
Congrats! She is beautiful and you look so good! I know what you mean about "hitting the wall" during labor. I hit that with Eden and seriously thought there was no way I could go on. I'm glad Kristina is such a good baby. It makes all the difference when you can get some sleep and not go crazy during the day. I wish we lived closer so we could get our girls together!
Can you email me your address? I can't seem to find any other way to get in touch with you besides making a comment here. (By the way, my email is on my blog.)
Amanda,
